Community Development
Community-led improvements in water access, sanitation and shared infrastructure.

Program overview
Our Community Development program focuses on empowering local populations in Bangladesh through initiatives that improve infrastructure, enhance livelihoods, and foster community engagement. Volunteers work closely with local leaders to identify community needs and implement sustainable projects that promote growth, health, and well-being.
Typical areas of involvement
- Building infrastructure for impoverished communities, such as houses and community facilities
- Setting up tube wells to provide access to clean drinking water
- Constructing septic tanks to improve sanitation and hygiene
- Developing roadways and access paths within villages to facilitate transportation and connectivity
Intended community benefit
This program aims to bring tangible improvements to communities by developing essential infrastructure such as water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and access roads. These developments promote better health, hygiene, and self-sufficiency, enabling communities to flourish sustainably. For volunteers, the experience offers a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference, foster community engagement, and gain insights into sustainable development practices that can benefit local populations long-term.
Working responsibly
Volunteers are expected to follow local staff direction, respect the dignity and privacy of all participants, and work within their qualifications. Any medical, safeguarding, construction or other regulated work must be supervised by appropriately qualified local professionals. Opportunities vary by project and cannot be guaranteed.
